AMANTA BEGINS DRILLING AT DOI NGOM TUNGSTEN PROJECT
September 21, 2006
Vancouver, Canada - Further to its news release of August 17, Amanta Resources Ltd. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that drilling is underway on the Doi Ngom tungsten project in northern Thailand.
This initial phase of the drill program is designed to confirm the location and scale of the breccia and to test the contacts between the breccia and the granites to the east and the clastic sediments to the west. The Company plans to drill 5 to 7 holes in this phase. Core will be sent to Lakefield Research Laboratories in Ontario, Canada where tungsten will be determined by X-ray fluorescence.
Data collected in this phase of drilling will be interpreted and used to assist in the design of the remainder of the drill program. The program calls for a total of up to 5,000 metres of cored drilling at Doi Ngom.
Earlier work at Doi Ngom included a systematic surface rock and soil sampling and mapping program, covering an area of 1.2 km˛. The results showed that while former small-scale mining activities have left areas of tailings and while the rough topography has certainly influenced mechanical dispersion of high grade material, there is evidence of widespread in situ tungsten ore, both in hand specimen size rock samples and in soils. Assay values ranged up to 2,000 ppm (0.2%) with a maximum value of 6.75% WO3.
Geological Information contained within this report has been verified by Pieter Bakker (Director, Executive VP – Amanta Resources Ltd.). Mr. Bakker satisfies the requirements of a Qualified Person as defined in the National Instrument 43-101 (Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects).
Amanta Resources Ltd. is focused on mineral exploration, development and production in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region.
