LANGU GOLD PROJECT UPDATE EARLY RECONNAISSANCE DRILL RESULTS RECEIVED EXPANDED SURFACE MAPPING AND SAMPLING PROGRAMME COMPLETED
August 24, 2005

RECONNAISSANCE DRILLING PROGRAMME

August 24, 2005. Vancouver, Canada - Amanta Resources Ltd. (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the receipt of results from the first four shallow diamond-drill holes. These holes are part of an eight-hole initial reconnaissance drilling programme, aimed at developing a geological model for the Langu property. This initial phase will aid in the planning and execution of an effective, ongoing exploration and development programme for the project, to assess the economic potential of the gold occurrences discovered on the property. Holes were drilled to a depth of up to 100 metres and the total drilled for the four holes was 355 metres.

Significantly, one of the holes (LNG 02) intersected a gold mineralized interval of 3.4 metres, grading just under 3 g/t., at a depth of about 20 metres. The same hole has two other minor mineralized intervals. A minor mineralized intercept was also recorded in LNG 01. The other holes, while providing valuable geological information, did not intersect gold mineralization. These initial drill holes were located in the Arun Saprachai licence area, in the northern part of the previously identified 6,000 metre anomalous gold trend. Results are shown below:

These four drill holes will be augmented by a further 4 drill holes, to complete the initial phase of reconnaissance drilling at the property.

SURFACE SAMPLING AND MAPPING PROGRAMME

A comprehensive surface sampling programme over the entire Langu property has identified a significant gold trend, some 6,000 metres long and striking approximately north-south, along which a number of strong gold anomalies have been identified. To assist in the identification of future drilling targets, the Company recently completed a close-spaced sampling programme on a 50 x 20 metre grid in the southern portion of the trend covering an area of 1000 x 2500 metres.  This sampling programme included about 2,500 sample points, in addition to more than 3,000 previous sampling points within the Langu property.

The resulting gold-in-soil distribution for this programme further defined a strongly anomalous area of roughly 0.4 km² within the 50 ppb contour, in which maximum values reach 500 ppb. Field inspection shows that the anomalous gold values are related to widespread outcropping of silicified and jasperoid rocks.

The relevance of the soil sampling results is evidenced by the increasing number of outcrop grab and composite samples within the defined anomalous trend returning significant gold grades. Specifically, recent results include a composite sample taken 250 meters south of the Discover Quarry returning 22 g/t Au, a series of four samples from the extreme southern end of the gold trend grading 4.6g/t, 5.6g/t, 6.1g/t and 9.5g/t Au respectively (reported in NR of August 8, 2005), a composite sample from the Nong May sector at the western limit of the exploration area returning 3.5g/t Au and a select grab sample from the same area returning 8g/t Au.

The two Special Prospecting Licences (SPLs) covering the Langu gold property encompass an area of some 25 Square kilometres, and the Company has another two SPLs under application. As and when granted, this will increase the area under the Company's control to about 55 square kilometres. The Company believes that the identified anomalous gold trend, extending the entire length of the present SPLs, continues to the north and south of the existing property.

The information obtained from the detailed surface sampling and mapping programmes, together with the geological information obtained from the initial reconnaissance drilling programme will greatly aid the Company's ongoing exploration and development programmes at its Langu gold property.

Geological Information contained within this report has been verified by Pieter Bakker (Director, Executive VP – Amanta Resources Ltd.). Mr. Bakker satisfies the requirements of a Qualified Person as defined in the National Instrument 43-101 (Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects).

Amanta Resources Ltd. is focused on mineral exploration, development and production in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region. The Company’s strategy is to concentrate on the systematic evaluation of known mineral occurrences, rather than "greenfields" exploration, creating early opportunities to finance and develop mines.
