COPPER AND ASSOCIATED MINERALS: LAOS
Amanta signed a concession agreement with the Government of the Lao PDR on June 20, 2008. The agreement is for exploration and evaluation of the copper and associated mineral resources in a 200 km˛ area in the northern part of Laos, the Luang Namtha project. On April 14, 2009 Amanta signed a Joint Exploration Agreement (JEA) with the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) for the development of the project. The area, mainly underlain by volcanic rocks and intrusives, has considerable high grade copper-silver outcrop and float. Early reconnaissance of these materials yielded copper values up to 6%, silver values up to 14 oz/t and molybdenum up to 0.8%. A detailed surface, geochemical – including stream sediment and soil sampling – mapping, and ground geophysics programmes have been completed. Amanta is also pursuing a second copper project and is currently in JV negotiations with a local company. Laos has a stable and attractive mining environment, and the Company recognizes itself as a First Mover there. (Details)
TUNGSTEN: THAILAND
Amanta has two tungsten deposit licenses in Thailand, Mae Lama and Mae Chedi. Both are former tungsten producing sites. Amanta plans to re-open the Mae Lama mine, a former tungsten producing mine in Northern Thailand. The mine at Mae Lama had a reported mine head grade of 2% WO3. Work is underway to rehabilitate the existing adits to facilitate channel and bulk sampling. Amanta anticipates very low capital costs and annual production of up to 2,500 tonnes of tungsten concentrates, generating significant revenues for the Company over a mine-life of 6 to 8 years. (Details) Amanta’s second tungsten property is located in the general area of the former tin-tungsten producer Mae Chedi, which include several old production pits, north of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. The Mae Chedi area is licensed to Amanta under a Special Prospecting License (SPL) issued by the Thai Government. (Details)
GOLD: THAILAND
At the Langu gold prospect in southern Thailand, strong correlation between surface geochemical sampling, trenching and geophysics confirms the presence of a highly anomalous gold trend over 6 km in length. The prospect holds excellent potential for Chinese-Carlin style gold mineralization. An initial drill programme limited to the north end of the anomaly yielded encouraging results; the next phase of drilling will test the southern portion. Amanta is reviewing a number of JV and earn-in proposals to accelerate development at Langu. (Details)
